Dr. Shannon French provides comprehensive dental services to her patients that help prevent future oral health problems. At routine dental visits and checkups, Dr. French and her team thoroughly clean and examine the dental structure. They also take note of any developing dental issues. Catching oral health problems in their early stages makes it much easier to reverse them.
At Bladenboro Family Dentistry, our general dental solutions allow patients to receive dental care and help protect their teeth from injury or infection. As a dental office that sees patients of all ages, our friendly staff is dedicated to maintaining their patient’s long-term oral health.
We also know that it may be difficult for some patients to visit our office due to fear or anxiety. Our friendly and caring dentists are with patients throughout their care. Our goal is always to ensure that visits to our office are as comfortable and positive for all patients as possible.
Root Canal Treatment
Dr. French offers root canal treatment to remove an infection from teeth. Root canals are needed when the dental pulp within a tooth is severely infected. The dental pulp is made up of nerves and blood vessels that keep the teeth healthy. When a dental infection reaches the pulp, it needs to be removed.
During root canal treatment, we remove the infected pulp, clean the tooth chamber, and then fill the tooth. Dr. French may also reinforce the tooth with a dental crown for added protection and to preserve aesthetics. However, our goal is always to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible.

Dental Sedation
Oral conscious sedation, IV sedation, and nitrous oxide are methods of dental sedation that help relax patients for their dental procedures. Each type of sedation is different, and the method of sedation we choose will depend on your specific needs. With sedation dentistry, our team can offer a quicker and more efficient treatment to patients. To learn more about the types of dental sedation we offer, how dental sedation can provide relief from anxiety, and how it can make procedures pain free, see Dental Sedation.
Tooth Extractions
Dental extractions are often required for patients with severely infected, overcrowded, or impacted teeth. Removing teeth can also eliminate painful symptoms. Most people will have their wisdom teeth removed because there is not enough room in the mouth for them to emerge correctly.
Infected or overcrowded teeth need to be extracted for the health of other teeth. We can also provide dental implants to restore extracted teeth. To learn more about tooth extractions in our office, see Tooth Extraction.

Is dental sedation safe?
Yes, we only use treatment methods that are safe for our patients. For added comfort, we keep track of our patient’s vitals and help patients throughout their treatment.
Are tooth extractions painful?
Patients will feel sore following their tooth extraction treatment, but we can provide pain relievers for a quick recovery. During the extraction procedure itself, we use a local anesthetic to numb the treated area. We may also use sedation depending on the type of extraction we perform.
